Hi, when I turn my PS3 on and try to sign into one of my accounts the analog stick doesn't work to select the profile but if i press square or circle it has a spasm and cycles through the profiles.

I have restarted the ps3 numerous times and held the power button for 10 seconds so it beeps 3 times.

Any suggestions?

That looks like a problem with the controller. When you turn on with the front panel and leave the controller off does it sit static?

I just sits normally when I start up, but i don't have spare controller.

The controller did get dropped last night though.

Almost certainly the controller then I'm afraid.

Try finding a small object and pressing the reset button on the rear of the controller for 15-20 seconds and then pair it with the PS3 again. If this doesn't fix it then chances are your controller is fit for the bin

They're cheaper than they used to be, but make sure you buy a genuine one if it comes to it.

Sorry, but there isn't much else I can suggest to resolve your issue. You could use a USB keyboard to get to the XMB if you have important messages pending, or just want to listen to music/pics/video.

Hopefully that fixes it but if not, at least you're gonna have a nice new controller!
