PS3 not accepting input

I was playing the new Lord of the Rings demo, when I pressed the PS button to access the XMB, but it would not let me do anything in the XMB, I could not move along the menu's and I could not quit game from the XMB, all I could do was push the PS button and return to the game. I quit the game and found that the XMB was still in the same unresponsive state out-of-game.

Next time I turned on the system I found out that this happened whenever I started any downloaded game. The same also happens on BD games, but on BD games it also ignores all buttons in-game as well, meaning on LBP I can run left and right in my pod but no buttons work, so I can't jump or start a level, and on Bioshock I can't even get past the 'this games saves data.... press x to continue' screen.

It's a 60GB console.

Re: PS3 not accepting input

Yes, I'll try it in a few minutes if you like, but it works fine before starting any games, and I can play downloaded games fine, I just lose input on BD games, and the XMB after launching a game.

Re: PS3 not accepting input

OK.... Not fixed, but has created a temporary workaround.

Started Bioshock up as before, then turned on the second controller, pushing a button on the second controller gives the system a little wake-up, and Bioshock works again, but push the PS button and the XMB is frozen again, turned off the second controller and back on again, and it woke up the XMB, but close the XMB and re-open it, and it's frozen again, and I have to turn off/on the controller again. So I have to turn a controller on for each BD game I start, and every time I load the XMB.

Try assigning the controller to a different port...

Re: PS3 not accepting input

OK, I don't need to turn on another controller, I just need to hold the PS button for a couple of seconds to get to the controller settings menu, then circle to go back and it 'wakes up'. Still not fixed though, I have to press the PS button for a couple of seconds every time a start another BD game, or load the XMB.
