PS3 not reading disks after a short while

[ Edited ]

Hi,

So I ejected my MW3 disk and put in my COD4 disk, started up fine, went to multiplayer, clicked Multiplayer (or whatever it says) and it crashed and went back to the home screen. Thinking this was a problem with COD4 I tried MW2: loads up fine, then without even getting to the main menu - it crashes and goes back to the home screen again.

The system has been on for a while (since I came in the door at half past three, till now (6ish))

Has anyone else had this problem? Is it anything to do with the PS3 being on too long? (even though it has been on for longer with no upset) or is it something more serious?

If anyone has any advice on the subject it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Tom

Is there any torrenting software on your computer (e.g. uTorrent, Frostwire)

Things like Ubuntu software update also use torrents so check them too :smileywink:

yes uTorrent... but what does that have to do with it? (sounding intrigued not rude)

Re: PS3 not reading disks after a short while

More info on the problem. COD4: can play Single player fine, just as soon as I go into Multiplayer, I get about 3 seconds to savour the beauty of the menu before it crashes.
MW2: run the game, gets to the Infinity Ward logo scene, doesn't even finish that, cuts out halfway through
Black Ops: Runs like a charm, no problems with anything...
....Now I'm thinking it's more a fault with COD4 and MW2, dodgy update maybe?

Thanks for all help up to this point

Tom

Torrenting programs use the same ports and connections necessary for Call of Duty. Disable the torrenting software before you turn on the PS3 and it should work :smileywink:

Torrent software can often use the same networking ports COD games use hence the crash when attempting to play multiplayer.

If you sign-out of PSN by pressing triangle over account management and you can access COD single player fine it will definitely be a connection issue.
