I can't play PS3 games on it anymore, the disc is read but it rarely gets as far as installing the game and never goes through it. It reads PS2 discs fine. I've tried a reformat, no good. This happened a month after the warranty expired and I sure as hell am not going to pay for a replacement. Sony's consoles are getting more expensive and more faulty; my PS2 was also killed by DRE but at least it lasted two years.

Did you just install a update and then it happened?

I find the Blue ray disc they are using quiet cheap actually and see through (no im not joking). Which leads me to believe that it can cause the laser to stress more..and thus wear it down quicker.

Take my Die Hard 4.0 Blue ray and its not see through..

Something sony should sort out I thinik...thought id share this.

Yes, it happened shortly after installing the update.

If you encounter an issue where your console is not loading any discs you can check out a troubleshooting guide to see if you can get them playing again.
