When i updated my ps3 this morning i downloaded the update through the playstation and it got to 99% and took an extremely long time to finish that 1% downloading but when i tried to install it it gets to 99% stays for about 3 minutes then gives me the error code 8002f310. i have tried the help that pops up on the screen with no luck and have also swapped to my old 80gb hard drive which wouldn't update either and said serious error. Every time i turn the playstation on it automatically tries to install the update and will not boot into safe mode
Seems quite a common problem (updates dont cause issues eh SONY?).
Quick search of google brings up this lot.
Click on the link & hopefully you will find a solution to your issues.
Good luck guys.
Update 4.11 Fail's Again ... Error code 8002f310 ....
Same here I'm using a PS3 OLD one
An Machine Type "CECHL03" Version PS3 Pal
So if i where "SONY" ill put the software down 4.11 so it wont update PS3 at all..
So know i won't update my other PS3.. Before they come with a new update there works
Instead of sending a PS3 Faulty update out.... :! Huh...
PS: please feel free to type the machine type..
Fore: PS3. Mechanic division... What are you doing... " MONEY OUT OF THE DOOR FORE SONY"
I formated HDD in my PC, every save and data lost :´(
I can´t get into Recovery menu, unplugged AC cabel, not solved my problem.
If this error code is occuring this maybe down to an issue with the downloaded update data. If you have a wireless connection either directly to the PS3, or a laptop on the wireless to put it on the USB- this could be the issue.
If the console is now in this update loop, if you can wire the laptop/PC directly to the modem and download the update again onto the USB stick (making sure this is in the update folder). Then put this in the console to update, it may be that the update cannot complete correctly when downloading through the wireless connection.
Let me know if you can try this out,
Had similar issue this morning. It would get to either 16% or 20% and then just stop. Went and downloaded it via PC, put it on USB stick and it updated fine.
Problem is now that I can't stay connected to PSN at all. Disconnects me after five to ten minutes repeatedly, so is there some problem with PSN at the moment? It's not an issue with my network as I have two PCs on it and internet connection on them both is fine.
NB. If you're trying to update it from a USB stick, you need to put a folder in the root called "PS3" and then one inside that called "UPDATE". The file you download goes in there. Otherwise, it doesn't recognise there's a file to update from. Both of those folder names are case-sensitive too! Hope that helps.
I would have thought the ps3 checked the Md5 checksum before installing? - To prevent installation of corrupt downloads.?
Using a USB device is good advice - I have done for a number of years.Havent had any issues since.
By doing it by this method, you can also check the Md5 via your PC for peace of mind.
