Problem with Thrustmaster Steering Wheel

Hi there.  We've gone to use our Thrustmaster steering wheel today (bought a couple of years ago, but I know it works ok, as we've tried it before).

 

Tried to use it with Burnout Paradise, after more than an hour fiddling with the thing, the buttons and the pedals work ok, but it won't steer.

 

Tried turning the PS3 off and trying a different game (F1), the steering works, but the pedals won't.

 

Can anyone help us with this, before the steering wheel goes out the front window! :Argh:
