Hi guys, I got a new bt hub router last night hooked it up, and went to Internet connection settings on the ps3. Now it finds the hub no problems I have put all the correct setting in, but when I do a connection test it fails at the can't find/connect to ip address any ideas? Thanks

wired, or wireless?

using 'easy' or 'manual' setup on the PS3?

Both wired and wireless, I plugged the Ethernet cable in and it still didn't obtain it.

I take it that it used to work with a previous router / modem?

Yeah it worked fine with my old hub, swapped over last night and this one just won't obtain an ip address?

I could understand wireless not working (possibly), or if you'd used manual, and the new hub used a different IP range...

But for 'easy' and wired combo not to work, I'd be pointing my finger at the new hub I'm afraid

I thought that but when I did plug the ethernet cable in, it got an ip address but in brackets it said private network rooms only???

aha - maybe...

That would imply that the IP subnet your PS3 is trying to use may be different from the one the router is using - or that the router wasn't letting the PS3 talk to the outside world. Maybe.

I'd suggest trying wired, easy, again - or if that doesn't work, wired, manual and double check the PS3 IP and gateway IPs are in the same range as the router's.

You might need to use the PC to find the IP range your router is using - shout if you need help with that
