Ps3 media help

Hey hey,

Hoping someone can provide some insight into this problem I'm having. Hopefully I can explain this correctly. I have 2 networks in my house because the signals can't get through the walls. So network 1 in connected to network 2 via a Ethernet cable. Network 2 then has a dlink router which is used as a hub.

If I have the media computer plugged into the hub of the 2nd network the ps3 cannot pick up the computer/media server but if bypass the hub/router and plug the Ethernet straigh into the computer/media server it picks it up.

I hope this makes sense.

Do I need to open up the ports on the 2nd network/hub/router so the ps3 gets through the hub and then to the server?

Thanks alot.

Re: Ps3 media help

Hello Larry,

So the Dlink router is really just an access point? On the Dlink turn off dhcp and remember to plug the ethernet cable into one of the Ethernet ports, not the WAN port. There will not be any ports to open between the wireless and wired LAN side of the router. Also make sure your two routers have different IP addresses.

On a side note, the LAN side of the router is a switch, not a hub.
