My 60GB ps3 has stopped showing the disk icon when putting in a blu-ray game. However if I load a demo off the hard disk first it will then show the disk icon and allow me to play the game until it is removed or the ps3 turned off. DVD's work fine as well.
I first noticed something was wrong after I turned the playstation on and my friends list was showing just me then also that the normal disk icon under the games tab was missing. I then turned the ps3 off but when I turned it back on the message 'The hard disk's will be rebuilt.' Instead of clicking ok I turned it off then on again only to be faced with the same message. I clicked ok and it then went to the usual xmb in an instant. However the disk was still not showing. When I tried a dvd that worked fine. When a game is put i the blue light does come on. The strange thing is that if I load a demo off the hard disk. Any disk in the ps3 will show up until it is taken out or the system turned off. It just seems strange to me that everything is fine as long as I load a demo before playing any games off blu-ray.
Also, it's weird how the spell check on here wants to replace 'ps3' with 'ass'.

So your saying you can still play Blu-Ray but only after playing a demo.
One second, i might have a solution.
It is on these forums.
I cannot find it!
It says to go into the recovery menu and select one of the options, then it should work.
I will search for it tommorow, ok?

Awesome. Have it fixed. Went to the restore menu and choose rebuild database. It stayed on 0% for about half an hour so I held down the on/off button until it beeped. It came back up saying it needed to rebuild database so clicked ok again. This time it did it in about a minuite, it restarted and came back up asking to rebuild database again which made me a little scared. Again it did it in about a minuite but this time when it restarted itself it came back alive and well, showing any blu-ray disk thats in there.
Thanks for the help. =)
