Ps3 turns itself off

Need help... my ps3 just turns itself off for no reason after about 1 minute of usage! it starts slowing down untill it turns itself off and im left with a blinking red light and can't even use controller to turn it back on! Have to do it manually and then i get a message telling me that ps3 was not turned off properly etc, plz go to turn off system to do so! once all this is done im able to turn it back on but again after a minute or so, off again...

it sounds like the ps3 "engine" has ran out of power!!!

can anyone help, plz?

Re: Ps3 turns itself off

A blinking red light can mean that the PS3 is over heating, so it shuts it self off. Is your fan still working/spinning?

Re: Ps3 turns itself off

Yep, my launch day model has just had this exact same problem.
Luckily it's being replaced under continuous play.

Re: Ps3 turns itself off

i thought that it could be coz it was over heating so i turned off the power at the wall and left it for a couple of days, and tryed again today and all that i did was turn it on, and it would only be on for about a second then the light would go green then yellow beep three times, then shut its self down then the red light just keeps flashing till you press the on button on the console, so does any one no what i should do coz i am so confused its not funny

Re: Ps3 turns itself off

Cheers! That's what I figured! Fan no longer spinning, but sent ps3 for repair!
