Ps3 turns on then straight off

11 Replies 9,722 Views Created 09-09-2010

so i fixed my ps3 yesterday and turned it on after fixing it and it came on, so i went downstairs for a minute or 2 when i came back up the ps3 was turned off, so i tryed turning it back on with the touch button and it didnt work so i flicked the switch at the back and again to turn it back on and the ps3 started up automaticly, but only comes on for a few seconds, and nothing shows on the tv. it beeps the usual to start up, beeps again, and turns of. is this a power failure?

ive read a few posts like this and people say its the power supply, is this correct?

thanks

Re: Ps3 turns on then straight off

unlikely to be the power supply I would say - both something obviously isn't right!

When you say you 'fixed' it - what exactly did you do?

Re: Ps3 turns on then straight off

have you got the hard drive in it yet??? I just read the comments on you tube

trying to press the eject button won't do nothing unless you have a disk in

you haven't got a power failure because the red/green light is on so power is fine......

Re: Ps3 turns on then straight off

Whilst not having an HDD will definitely cause issues Smiley Wink, you are correct in thinking that it should be at least giving you a message about it being missing... Smiley Sad

Which implies that there COULD well be something more serious going on (as well).

Unfortunately, having done a DIY 'fix' you are now in the boat of having no one to go back to - and to be a little bit brutal, the DIY 'reflow' fix, whilst it works for many people, there are some POTENTIALLY huge risks in doing it...
And it does look like you may have hit hard up against them Smiley Sad

Fingers crossed that when you put a drive in, it will be ok - but I'm not certain it will be I'm afraid Smiley Sad
