Re: psn 5 activated users

Hi all just a quick question, on the psn game downloads most say “5 activated ps3 systems” can someone confirm that is 5 different ps3 machines or is it by activated PSN Id Accounts?

E.g.: if you have 2 ps3 machines but 5 different retested PSN users, (machine 1 has 2 different activated PSN Id Accounts on it) (machine 2 has 3 different activated PSN Id Accounts on it).

would this out come be 2 game activated because of 2 machines or 5 game activated because of 5 PSN ID’s?

hope this question makes sense, many thanks

Re: psn 5 activated users

it would come out as 2.

Each d/l is tied to a particular PSN ID, so for it to come up with that message, your PSN ID must be activated on 5 physically different PS3s

note though, that if your PSN ID was activated on a PS3 which died, it will still count as one of those 5 - UNLESS you sent the dead one back to Sony and specifically asked them to deactivate it.

And we weren't even testing for that..

Re: psn 5 activated users

Just for note - so that you know :smileyhappy:

The reasoning behind all of that is:
Sony (kindly) allow us to d/l a game from the PSN onto our PS3.
They recognise that some people own more than 1 PS3, and therefore (very kindly) allow us to d/l the same game to another PS3 (with the same PSN ID in it) - for free
They also (extremely kindly) recognise the fact that we sometime pop round to a friend, who has their own PS3. In order to let us shown off the d/l we bought, we can then sign into PSN (using our own PSN ID) on the friend's PS3, and re-download it (again for free).
NOTE - when leaving your friends, you MUST deactivate your account on their PS3*

Sony have decided that the number of consoles which most reasonable owners would need to use the d/l on is 5 - which seems pretty fair :smileyhappy:

* if you do not do this (deactivate your account on their PS3), you are classed as 'bad' game sharing - which can lead to a PSN ban.
'good' (allowed) game sharing is when you activate your PSN ID only on consoles which you (or your immediate family) physically own, or temporarily on a friend's console, whilst you are there using it.

hope that makes sense! :smileyhappy:

Re: psn 5 activated users

When you go to log into the other users accounts on your own PlayStation you can press Triangle on your account (While being logged in) And delete the account

Re: psn 5 activated users

I thought it was to go into Account Management (from the PSN icon on XMB), system activation, deactivate - but I'm not certain...

as to doing it on other people's PS3s - you need to physically go round (or phone / email etc them I guess), and do it on their PS3s :smileyhappy:
