UPDATE from earlier post

it was stuck checking my system at 49% for 5 hours so i took a deep breath and hit the mains power....BOOM off was the ps3.......a silent minute fell.......i rebooted it and had to fooking reformat it!!! all my data lost but a plus point was that it works and my cod and fifa online data is still intact as they get stored on the respective servers of the games and ive still got my psn log in and friends list.

All in all a good outcome!!

Phew!!

Re: UPDATE from earlier post

There wasn't really a need to start a new thread about this :smileyindifferent:

Also, why did you switch off at the mains?

Re: UPDATE from earlier post

because it wasnt doing anything for 5 hours and i tried using the pad to turn it off(nope) and then just pressing the off button on the console(nope) so had to resort to the final choice which took a lot of deliberation

Re: UPDATE from earlier post

Couldn't you just use the switch on the back of the PS3?
