a little while ago i copied a few videos from my PC to my PS3 to save some space.

now i need them back onto my pc but when i insert the usb stick and then copy the video file it just says connect storage media at the save destination. ive searched around a bit but everyones problem seems to be copying from the USB to the ps3, rather than the other way round.

ive formated the USB stick to FAT32

ive made a file in the base directory of the memory stick called VIDEO

but the ps3 just isnt acknowledging that there is a USB stick.

what have i done wrong?

Does it recognise it on the computer?

yes, perfectly.

There are no properties stopping it from being used on other devices or from sharing on other devices etc on the USB stick is there?

not as far as i know. i certainly havent put those settings on myself. i had formatted it just before i made tried copying files to it.

USB ports on the PS3 dusty?

i have blown into to blast the dust out, no difference.

there is nothing else i need to do other than formating the stick to fat32 and putting a folder called VIDEO in is there?

Have you tried all the USB ports? And do other USB devices work in them?

As for your question, for my USB flash drives i didnt even need to do what you did, i just put them into my PS3 and they worked off the bat

yes ive tried all the ports nd other usb devices work. guess ill just have to use my psp as a memory stick as that works. thanks a lot for your help though.
