Unable to Sign In - Error 8001050F

[ Edited ]

February 12th 2012

I cannot sign in to the PSN. Im getting an error code 8001050F.

I updated to system software 4.10 a couple of days ago. I was able to sign in to PSN immediatley after that but not since then. The internet works in the web browser on the PS3 and I can download game updates. The only problem seems to be with signing in. The date and time is correct and seems to be updating.

I did a connection test. The PSN connection failed, but the other connections were successful.

I have a FAT 40GB PS3.

Can you help please?

Re: Unable to Sign In - Error 8001050F

Apparently the 8001050F error code suggests a system failure rather than a simple network problem.

However if you're on a wireless connection you might want to try using an ethernet cable to wire the connection. Alternatively you might want to look at the port forwarding or security settings on your router.

Sony support claims that if there's no PSN maintenance then the console needs to be sent in for service, but it might be worth trying some basic network troubleshooting first!
