Update via USB

I tried to download the lastest software update (4.21). After numerous attempts, it wouldn't download completely. So I had a go at downloading via the playstation website and transferring the data onto the PS3 via USB.

I followed all the instructions on here http://us.playstation.com/support/systemupdates/ps3/pc_update/index.htm , but when I scan for the USB, it says "No applicable data was found"

I have one of the updates that was put on the USB following the instructions, and one that is in the main "menu" of the USB (when you load up the data, its there, I'll include a screeny in case you don' understand)

I cleaned everything off the USB before hand as well in case that interfered

Re: Update via USB

Hi ShadowErased,

Sorry to hear of the issues you are having with the internet update.

From your screen shot you have provided, it looks like you might be missing a folder.

Can you please confirm the following:

That your PS3UPDAT.PUP is inside a folder called ‘PS3’ and then inside another folder called ‘UPDATE’

Folders should look like ‘PS3’ > ‘UPDATE’ (This is where you put the PS3UPDAT.PUP file) Please be aware that these folders you create are case sensitive and are required to be in caps.

Also, have you formatted your USB drive to FAT32 format?  PS3 requires FAT32 formatting before it will read your drive.

Please let us know if you are still having issues with your PS3 locating your update file.

Please use plain text.

I have the UPDATE file that has the PS3 folder inside it which has the ps3UPDAT.PUP inside that and the USB is formatted to FAT32 as well. Yet it still came up with the same message.

Re: Update via USB

You have

E:\UPDATE\PS3\PS3UPDAT.PUP

but you need

E:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP
