Vita Error NW-2458-9

All Internet features on my 3G Vita work apart from signing into the Playstation Network. Trophy Sync, Internet, near, all fine, but Friends for example, or trying to play online just gives me this error. Internet searches return a handful of Chinese sites, so it's not looking very common. Anybody know what this is or have an Error Code guide pls...?

Re: Vita Error NW-2458-9

"NW-24" indicates a connectivity/server type error. I'm not sure about the "58-9" though.

Try checking all your connectivity settings between your router and the vita if you're using Wifi. If you're using 3G, make sure you have a good signal, (Not "G","2G","E"). For optimal connectivity you should  be connecting with a decent signal and "H" or "3G" next to it.

If the problem occurs via both connection methods, try entering safe mode, rebuilding the database, and if that doesn't work, deactivate your PSN account, and restore it to it's default settings and try again.

Re: Vita Error NW-2458-9

I'm not sure you read my issue fully - all internet features work fine, so this is a specific PSN sign in issue, and only affects 3G.

I get no errors on WiFi, and my signal strength is typically HSDPA when using mobile networks. I didnt get errors initially either. I have also checked the mobile network (T-Mobile) access point server address, password, ip etc.

Any Sony techs on here that can shed light on the actual error code?

Re: Vita Error NW-2458-9

You didn't specify that it was a 3G connectivity issue, hence my vague response.

Are you able to access this link via the Vita on 3G? https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/login.action?service-entity=psn

Re: Vita Error NW-2458-9

Yes, that works perfectly fine, but it's a web page, and should work anyway as the web protocols are fine.

I suspect this is a port blocking issue with the mobile network

[ Edited ]

I have the same problem. I am able to compare trophies, use NEAR and check my account settings in the actual "settings" menu. Browsing in general and Twitter, Facebook etc are ok too. I also removed the content lock as I first thought that might cause the problem but it's not.

I should add, it worked fine with the Vodafone SIM that came with it and also with my Virgin SIM, which is on T-mobile, just like the SIM I am using now.

Everything works perfectly fine on wifi. It's just 3G that's giving me trouble since I got the new SIM card.

Re: Vita Error NW-2458-9

Mine too is T-Mobile, and was working fine up until about 2 weeks ago.

Again, it would help if someone at Sony could explain what NW-2458-9 was listed as...

Re: Vita Error NW-2458-9

It may not be listed. Not all codes have identified causes as it's pretty impossible to find out every single bug in a program.

Does your T-Mobile SIM have a Adult Content Lock? This may be a cause of the issue as it blocks a substantial amount of websites and traffic.

Re: Vita Error NW-2458-9

As stated in my post, I have removed the content lock as I thought that's causing the problem.
But nothing has changed...

Re: Vita Error NW-2458-9

Content lock has been removed, and confirmed, i tried that last night as it happens thinking that might be the issue. It WAS previously working which is the annoying part. I accept that its nothing to do with the Vita itself as such, because it works on another SIM, but i'm more interested into what the vita "thinks" the error is, so that i can use this to solve the issue with the mobile network. Like i said, i suspect this is just the network blocking a port or a service.

I disagree with your comment about the code - i'm a software developer and to give a circumstance/error an "error code" you generally know exactly what has happened and how the system has arrived there or what caused it. Not the same as an unexpected bug, that's entirely different. In simple terms "if this issue occors, display this error message". NW-2458-9 might well be reserved for "an unexpected network issue", but either way, it's certainly something that has been prepared for.

I doubt the meaning will be divulged however at this rate...
