any chance ylod will fix itself?

after having my ps3 suddenly cut out on me this morning and no longer start up. i come on here to find out its commonly referred to as the yellow light of death, was thinking that would be it, ring up forced into replacement, and waiting weeks/months to get the game inside returned. after trying half hour after this happened was able to start the console up long enough to eject the game and check on my downloads from the store before cutting out again. is there any chance leaving the console may somehow automatically sort the problem out, im not sure if im imagining things here, but im sure ive encountered this problem once before since owning the console, a 60gb bought on release date and through letting it rest notseeing it again till now. anyone have any happy stories coming from the ylod, or does it all end the same way getting a replacement?

Re: any chance ylod will fix itself?

I haven't been around here all that long, but I've yet to see any mention of self healing PS3s :smileysad:

many ways that you might be able to get a bit more life out of it, but basically it is not looking good...

sorry!

* YLOD? * *PSN Connection Problems?* *Blu Ray Problems

And we weren't even testing for that..

Re: any chance ylod will fix itself?

My old 60 Go PS3 got YLOD on August, the 1st 2009. I got a new 80 Go PS3 and I never tried to turn the old one on again.

Well I just tried to turn it on right now and... the YLOD is still here Dx

Re: any chance ylod will fix itself?

All a YLoD alert indicates is 'Unspecified Hardware Failure'. As you well know, this mostly refers to fatal thermal damage, but can equally refer to any other number of 'unspecified hardware failures'', so it's possible that anyone can experience a Lazarus PS3.

However, this is highly unusual, and I'd say that you should use the time now to backup gamesaves and recover anything you'll not want to lose.

Re: any chance ylod will fix itself?

was suprised to see an email popup with a reply to this question over 2 years after i originally posted it. in the end i used the heatgun method on youtube which fixed it long enough (still was working the last time i tried it)  to get all my data off the original harddrive, but that was only to transfer it all to a new slim i bought not long after, which is still going strong

I never read the original posting date. Perhaps I should.
Oh well, at least you got it sorted (albeit 2 years ago).
