external hard drive folder structure

2 Replies 6,757 Views Created 18-02-2009

Hi guys,

Have just set up an external hard drive for my PS3.

Now, I read somewhere that I need to put the 3 folders MUSIC, VIDEO and PICTURE on that drive for the PS£ to recognise it. I'd also like to know though, can I put other folders within those folders so as to categorise all of my stuff?

Thanks for any replies.

Re: external hard drive folder structure

Hi there.

Short answer is yes, you can put folders within the VIDEO, PICTURE, GAME and MUSIC folders on an external hard drive.

The PS3 will, by default, only show you the first level of folders.  So in the PICTURE folder, you could have a 'Family Pics' folder.

If you put another folder within the 'Family Pics' folder, the PS3 won't show it by default, but it may still be accessed when you highlight the external drive in the XMB, press the triangle button and select 'Display All'.
