ps3 data is corrupted 8002f225

12 Replies 5,772 Views Created 16-08-2011

morning all

i know this is a common problem and there are various threads already open on the subject of the PS3 giving error " data is corrupted 8002f225" when installing a new HDD but so far I have not been able to find a thread that has provided a workable solution.

I have a fat ps3 with an 80gb hdd which is no longer working. I put in a new 500gb HDD and tried to update the FW using 3.70 on a pen drive but keep getting the "data is corrupted 8002f225" error.

I also have a slim PS3 - I can put the 500gb hdd in to that drive and the update works a treat.

I have downloaded various ps3 updates - 3.56,3.61,3.70 - i get the same error with all of them

Any ideas on how to get the fat ps3 working again?

Have you tried doing the install by using safe mode option 6 at all?

Sounds to me like 3.56 has struck again! That had the same problem, and they released a 'silent' update of 3.56 v2 that was a manual update that fixed the problem.

3.70 IMO has problems, so expect another update shortly.

Re: ps3 data is corrupted 8002f225

thats what i think has happened from reading alot of other posts. the problem is that I cant even put my old hdd back in and update the FW as the drive is dead.
There must be some way of getting this working

Re: ps3 data is corrupted 8002f225

You have the exact same situation as me when 3.56 was released.
If it is the same situation, then you won't be able to replace the HDD now. Even when 3.56 v2 was released, I needed the original drive to update the firmware as putting it on a usb stick for the new console didn't work.

Re: ps3 data is corrupted 8002f225

yeh thats what i keep reading but the problem is the original hdd is giving me the same message. when the PS3 boots up i am asked to press the PS3 button and then a message appears saying that it could not load and i need to install a usb drive with FW3.56 or higher to get it working.

It's weird how it's ok on the slim but not on the phat.

I do think you're a bit buggered though if I'm honest.

The same issue has been discussed in the topic here with some suggestion as to how others have rectified this.

Let me know how you get on

Re: ps3 data is corrupted 8002f225

thanks for the link but this fix is assuming that the user still has a working original HDD - which I do not
