17 Replies 15,583 Views Created 13-04-2010

Hi there, ive only had my ps3 for a couple of months and all is well until the last couple of days.. it began running very slow especially when i booted it up where it would take up to 30 seconds to show the ps3 logo. can anyone give me some advice as ive already tried deleting history, cache and cookies. Thanks

that's a new one on me :smileysad:

once it boots up, and you're playing a game, how does it go slow? drops framerate / sound out of sync / something else?

during the game when i press the PS button it takes ages to load up all the settings and it takes a while to send messages to friends on my list.

Re: ps3 running slow in game and also on system start up

definitely weird :smileysad:

The only thing I could really suggest is the generic safe boot option 3.
I'm not entirely sure it will help, but after that I'm a bit lost to be honest.

click and read the link below, taking particular notice of the potential data loss, and implications of choosing the wrong option :smileyhappy:

When it's slow in game, are you playing online (on PSN)? If you are it could be your Broadband Connection, are you wired or wireless?

Re: ps3 running slow in game and also on system start up

it could be the new 3.41 firware they added as mine is doing the same thing havent tried games yet but the xmb and loading of friends list or other files is actually slower than usual, lots of people are having this problem more so to the point that there is something wrong with the firmware others have found that they can't upgrade and install a new hdd in the system and are getting an error message...

So your not the only one in the dark so don't worry too much im sure sony once they figure out the problem will release a quick fix patch to ensure that this is dealt with hopefully as this isnt the first time a patch has messed things up....

try deleting any recently downloaded demos.

same thing happened to me while downloading the new star wars demo and i fixed it by canceling or deleting.

Re: ps3 running slow in game and also on system start up

Well I have had my PS3 for just three days and this is happening already! Worked fine when I first set it up, played BD and games perfectly. Tonight everything is running in extreme slow motion or freezing altogether. Wanted to see if there was a simple answer before returning it to retailer on the weekend.
