ps3 slim XMB freeze

Whenever I turn on my PS3, the XMB loads the main icons (game, PSN, video etc) but none of the icons for each section, apart from the settings icons, and when I press X on any of those the system freezes. I can still use the PS button to shut it down but when I do it turns off with 3 beeps but the green power light continues to flash.

Its strange because it was working perfectly the day before, and it only started to act like this since I started to download the Heavy Rain demo...

Oh, and its a PS3 120gb slim on firmware 3.15.

Does anyone know if there's any way I can fix it or what to do? Thanks

Re: ps3 slim XMB freeze

as step 1, I would go for the safe boot mode, option 3 :smileyhappy:

sounds like it thinks it is still trying to do something - possibly finish off the install for Heavy Rain?

And we weren't even testing for that..

Re: ps3 slim XMB freeze

Thanks. but its still not working. D:
When i did that it said the hard disk was corrupted, and it restored it, restarted and nothing had changed. I also tried re-installing 3.15 and reseting to default settings but neither of those worked.

Re: ps3 slim XMB freeze

from the link above, try option 4 - which is a slightly bigger hammer :smileywink:
(read the notes about the POSSIBLE loss of some data)

if that doesn't work, then option 5 is the bigger hammer again - but this WILL loose ALL your data, so is a last resort really :smileysad:
