video output settings to play ps1 game?

I have just downloaded Final Fantasy 8 from the PSN store, but when I try and play it a message comes up saying "you cannot play this game at the current video output setting".  What video output settings must I change in order to play this game? Thanks!

Re: video output settings to play ps1 game?

not something I've come across, but you could try unticking the 1080i/p settings and give that a go?
from the XMB, settings, display settings

* YLOD? * *PSN Connection Problems?* *Blu Ray Problems

And we weren't even testing for that..
