Re: Buying Skyrim

DO NOT BUY THIS ON PS3 !!!  The game itself is fantastic, but the ps3 version is completely broken and we are yet to hear if it can actually be fixed.  After continuous play (i've put in 70 hours) the game starts to get very laggy, there are ways around this to prolong it but it will crash your playstation over and over again.  I have given up as i'm sick of having to reboot my ps3 with system corruption warnings.  If you have an x-box, or pc good enough to run it, get it on either of them, as it is only ps3 version that is broken.

Go PC.

This is not a game best suited for consoles. It might be more stable on the Xbox 360 but even a budget PC performs better, which is really strange because I thought the game was ported to the PC. It just seems the engine is far better optimized to PC archecture, perhaps RAM comes into play with this title.

There is people with laptops using on board graphics playing this game at PS3/Xbox 360 graphics and physics levels.

Re: Buying Skyrim

aside from what everyone is saying cause I, myself have only experienced a few things here and there it depends on the person and i've heard the Pc version is very buggy too. this is an amazing game will take you forever to complete unless you play it non-stop but even then thats a week of solid gaming everyday maybe a little longer depending on how you play.

Re: Buying Skyrim

I guess The ps3 version has got programming or development problems. Didn't the team Bethesda test it? Idk. Anyway. It seems it would be very great experience to play it. But as i knew i'll be having problems. Replies have just confused me more than before:smileysurprised: duh

Re: Buying Skyrim

i got it for pc, , and so far so good, but to answer your questions, it is a long game if you count all the side quests, reports are its unfinishable.

graphics, there are some truly beautiful views in the game,

the map is quiet large, (especially when you accidently kill your horse and have to walk, for ages to the quest marker!)

it is open world, go where you want,

LOLWUT?

Completely broken would mean unplayable right?

I've had a few freezes/hard resets in 75 hours YES 75 hours of completely broken game! :smileyindifferent:

I've also seen a thread in here were several people have got the platinum trophy in this completely broken game :smileyindifferent:

Anyway I'm off to go and enjoy Skyrim for a bit before bed :smileywink:

YES BROKEN ! as in UNPLAYABLE, you are correct.

My game is also unplayable and i have just given up playing this broken game because the lag is so bad it is unplayable. People are angry about this issue because its a brilliant game and we just want to play it.

I'm glad that your playing experience thus far has been so pleasurable that you feel the need to glibly mock others who are not so fortunate as yourself, but please spare a thought for those of us who have invested a large amount of time in this game only to have it taken away from us due to severe technical issues.

The facts are, thousands of PS3 users have complained of severe lagging with this game, to the point it becomes unplayable. but likewise many users seem to suffer little technical issues, so at best its probably a 50/50 chance you will be okay.

Re: Buying Skyrim

But its not completely broken or unplayable is it!

I'm not mocking people, I'm saying that people have completed this game and got the platinum, and then there are others like me still enjoying it so how can it be ''completely'' broken?

Completely broken means it wouldn't work out of the box. It wouldn't play, you wouldn't be able to do a single quest! How can I be 80 hours into a completely broken game???

The wording used is incorrect. By no means am I defending this game, it's crashed, froze and corrupted one of my save files. But that doesn't mean its completely broken at all. It has issues yes and they effect some more then others.

If my car was running on 3 cylinders and I had to drive it from A to B, it would not be classed as completely broken. Nor is this game.

It was the most ''played'' game of 2011, it won the VGA's game of the year and its Christmas No 1. Completely broken games don't get that far!

Re: Buying Skyrim

You make a fair point ytevo79 about the interpretation of the phrase 'completely broken'. as to be fair the game plays pretty well for quite a while for most people. But to expand upon your car analogy a little, i could also say that driving from plymouth to coventry is very pleasurable, however, every journey from plymouth to glasgow is an altogether wholly different experience. and when your car is broken down on the hardshoulder of the M1 just outside Leeds and your totally stranded while the pouring rain lashes down upon you, you would probably consider your car 'completely broken'
