Just about to put BF3 on and thought I'll just finish this quest, the game froze so I hard reset. The PS3 booted warning me that the HDD maybe corrupt and that its going to check it and repair it (2-3 hours)

That's it I'm not playing this game anymore for fear of it bricking my console or something. Its only a year old Slim (250GB) but you never bloody know these days, it just isn't worth the risk.

And I've been ok with this game up until the patch which caused these lockups.

EDIT: Its seems ok, all back on the XMB, no warning messages or anything. Phew that was uncalled for lol.

this has happened to me twice,btw the disk checking only takes 4-5 mins for me and I have a 500g HDD in my old 60gb launch model

The latest patch has caused several hard resets, but like any other game I think nothing of it. Until now. Its obviously not good for any console regardless of age. I trust the new Slims a lot more then the phats tho, but I really don't want to risk anything for the sake of a buggy game.

I've had this happen to me 3 times now so ive stopped playing it now In fear of my console bricking!!!

The game did indeed corrupt one of my save game files But I was more worried it was more serious when that message came up, but I can live with 10 minutes gaming lost.

I deleted my game data last night (someone told me its tied to your game save and deletes that?) but when I checked my save on file (out of the 3 I use) one was corrupted so I deleted it. Going to try and play it offline as it was ok before the patch!

I just want to add that this issue has nothing to do with Skyrim.

Playing Alice last night during a boss battle the game froze while auto saving (hmm that's 2 games now ) and so I had to hard reset. Lo & behold it told me a file might be corrupt and that it was checking and repairing. I went to my save file and one (the auto save) was indeed corrupt. So I deleted that and left wondering as to why my console is playing up.

It also froze on BF3 as well and I had to hard reset. Something isn't right.

This happened to me about 3 times, then when I was playing last night he ps3 just shut itself off. Tried to turn it back on but it's coming up with a flashing red light.

I never had any problems until Skyrim started crashing like that so my advice to you is wait until they fix the game completely.

Edit: Just read the above post, so it's not skyrim's fault it's crashing like this. Could it be the recent 4.00 update?

I've been thinking that, but who knows? The forum defence league will tell you otherwise I'm not one to point fingers but there are 2 other people with similar issues of their PS3 locking up and having to check for corrupt data and not relating to Skyrim. One chaps was worse and locking up on the XMB and in the settings menu.

Someone mention in my topic in PS3 GD about my issue above. They said it could be the Skyrim corrupt save (which I deleted straight away) that has left a bad file on my HDD and interfering somehow. I've just rebuilt the database to see if that clears any lose files up etc.

But its funny how shortly after FW4.00, and the recent Skyrim update my PS3 locks up on 3 games, and corrupts 2 of the save files

Think it's a firmaware problem mine made me scan when i switched on,after i switched it off normally the day before.

Skyrim is the only game it freezes on for me but my wife turned the ps3 off at the plug the other day dureing AC:R and it did the hard reset thing again. I wonder if it now does that every single time it isn't closed down correctly. It certainly didn't used to do that for me
