If a patch fixes a broken quest it will only fix it on a new save and not the one you are playing from what I've heard. So you have to start a new game.
I would simply do what you can on this play through for now like the trophy related quests and main story. Then start a new game and concentrate on what you missed.
to be honest i am pretty much at that stage now, i have 8 trophies left to get (9 if you include the platinum), and 2 of them require me to definately restart (oblivion walker and one with the shadows), 2 are probably just as well doing on a restart (golden touch.. earn 100.000 gold, and standing stones... find 13 standing stones), and the other 4 are probably best done on my first playthrough (master criminal..1000 bounty in all areas, theif...pickpocket 50 people, and pick 50 locks, reader... read 50 skill books, and master... reach level 50).
So i shall quickly do the last 4 that i mentioned (whilst ignoring quests as much as possible), then get on my restart (hopefully the rumoured quest patch will be out before i begin my restart.)

I'm so glad I knew this anyway
But I don't sell rare items, they get stored in my chest and I only sell weapons, gems, Dragon Bone/Scales or anything else readily available and not important to the game.
Yeah I have a couple of chests full of odds & ends lol.

My chest a home is so full it slows the game right down when I go to put anything in it or take something out, it takes about 5 seconds per item and I'm beginning to become annoyed and just sell on now what I get instead of hoarding it for later use.

had a big clear out and arrange of all my chests recently and now have a small number of chests in different locations for certain things:
1 chest in college of winterhold for random stuff, but nothing worth much
1 safe in college of winterhold for potions
1 chest in whiterun house for smithing items
1 chest in upstairs bedroom of whiterun house for special weapons
I don't keep much in the way of armour (which as we know led to my problem with the thieves guild!!) so i just keep that on me (dragonscale armour (light armour), nightingale armour, and archmage robes, along with 1 or 2 random pieces of armour useful if i get close to being overencumbered)
Keeping things organised in this way is really useful and makes it easy to go between various areas and getting what i need.
Can also have more chests now, as i have just purchased the house in solitude (just saving up to do all the enhancements to it now before i move in!!).

Isn't there a spare set of thieves guild armour in the training room at thieves guild? I do remember that I have taken a spare set from there and tried to disenchant them. I guess I failed. Anyway, I am talking about the room where you train yourself for lockpicking at thieves guild...
On a second thought, I also do not remember whether I have seen them after trading the piece with Tonila or after the update.

I was going to say theres a full set in the training room and a full set of armour in the in the main quarters of the guild by one of the beds. Question though, how do you obtain Guildmaster Armour? Killed Marcer, completed the quest but saw somewhere there's Guildmaster armour you can collect.
