PS3 Skyrim: the WORST performance seen in years

[ Edited ]

Digital Foundry:

"As you can see on the 65 hour side, the effect is impossible to miss and given its severity, the outcry that has followed on forums is very much justified. These prolonged bouts of stuttering render the game almost completely unplayable, even during non-intensive walks down pathways, with some freezes lasting long enough to drag the frame-rate down to zero in places - the first time we've seen this in years of performance analysis here at Digital Foundry."

Bethesda.

Id wait an extra year for the game if they just released them in such a state. There are problems on all the platforms, though it hasn't been too bad for a change on the PC version. It breaks immersion and just forces you out of the game if you continually encounter the typically Bethesda-like bugs.

Such a shame I keep reading comments like these, as I was looking forward to playing the game but I'm gonna hold off for a bit. I don't normally judge purchases on reviews and bench tests, but in this case it's swayed me.

I bet the budget for the game was absolutely huge too !

Edit : Still can't be as bad as any Gameloft release though.

Actually read the article and you'll see the patch doesn't fix it.

We'll see for how long, many are still suffering major problems even after the patch. I'm just thankful to be playing it on 360 and it being a reasonably smooth experience bar the texture bug that was there pre-patch.

Ofc it's gonna have bugs.. it's a HUGE game.

Most single player games these days = 7-8 hours gametime on first playthrough.. so 65 hours? OMG YOU GOT RIPPED OFFFFFFFFFFFF.

And even with the bugs, it's still THE best gaming experience I've ever encountered on the PS3.

It's not so much bugs, as it is just a bad coding decision by Bethesda, Digital Foundry posted a theory which is probably somewhat accurate.

But Bethesda do have a history of having games run poorly, especially on console, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise, but people are stupid, so it is.
