Quick Select am

Oblivion worked really well for assigning weapons and spells to hotkeys. I am finding with Skyrim it doesnt work as well, or I do not understand how to do it properly.

So you toggle stuff as favourites, then up on the d pad takes to direct to that menu. Fine. But left and right also lets you hotkey favourite load outs but that doesnt work so well for me. I am finding I need to keep popping in and out of favourite menus to equip the light spell for example, which lasts 60 seconds, so every 60 seconds when anywhere dark. Which is often.

How do you guys manage/find this new system?

thanks

Re: Quick Select am

light spell left hand, weapon/other spell right hand?

I'm finding the new quick select much better than oblivions and fallouts which limited your choices

Yes, you've got it. The new favourites system really has been designed that poorly.

You're also going to find (as am I and a forum full of people over at TES official forums) that the game is pretty much unplayable as a full Mage since destruction spells are incredibly weak and scale very poorly as you level up.

The favourites system is a massive step backwars compared to the quick select wheel in oblivion that worked perfectly as a way to bring keyboard hotkeys to the console version.

It's amusing that oblivion was designed primarily as a PC game, yet the console version worked equally well. Skyrim on the other hand was designed primarily as a console game and yet doesn't work as well as Oblivion with regards to the interface.

Re: Quick Select am

How would I go about swapping between a spell and a shield in my left hand for example? I would have thought many people toggle on and off the light spell so acknowledge I am probably doing something wrong..

Up on D-pad, scroll through list, select it, cast it, up on D-pad, scroll through *****ing list, reselect previously equipped spell, go.

Awesome eh?

Ah. Numerous venomous curse words. How can you not notice this oversight during the presumably extensive testing required for this sort of game?!

With it being designed primarily as a console game they probably assumed everyone would want to play as Conan the Barbarian, and Conan has little need for the feeble favourites menu whilst he leaves piles of bodies in his wake.

Re: Quick Select am

I am unable to quote your comment via my phone so forgive the indirect reply, but could you please direct me to the official TES forum, or one recomended? I did ve a little Google but only got an error code.

I haven't read a review that comments on these problems yet, but have not read my usual trusted reviews so far..

Thanks for your help sir
