Skyrim Races

Hey,

I got Skyrim recently and can't decide on which race to choose. I kinda want to be a mage with melee/fighting abilities . . . Any suggestions for which race I should choose and why? I was thinking of High Elf, Nord, or Imperial.

Thanks

Re: Skyrim Races

I went with a dark elf. Resistant to fire and no real problems with hand to hand combat.

Re: Skyrim Races

I went Nord but kinda ignored their skillsets and ended up being a stealthy archer xD

Re: Skyrim Races

I went dark elf when i played Oblivion and he was pretty good all rounder. On Skyrim I'm a Redguard, who's pretty good with swords and bows :smileyhappy: So If u want a good mage/warrior (Spellsword) then go Dark Elf

Re: Skyrim Races

I went Khajiit as they seemed pretty epic looking. Totally ignored their skill set. However the choice worked out for the best as Khajiit are already pretty skilled in the things I'm not so good at, plus they can see in the dark so I don't need to wait for day. :smileyhappy:

Re: Skyrim Races

heres a table races and their respective skill bonuses

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Races

you can work out from the skills how to play each race but I've summarised it below also

High Elves: 100% Mage

Argonian: Theif

Wood Elf: Stealth Archer

Breton: Mage (probably rather choose High Elf)

Dark Elf: Mage Assassin

Imperial: Battle Mage

Kajiit: Stealthy knife guy (technical term *ahem*)

Nord: Light two handed Combatant

Orc: Heavy Combat All rounder

Red Guard: One handed combatant

hope this helps

P.S. for those who played Oblivion; do the lines between the races seem alot more blurred now? I remember knowing to chose Red Guard for combat and Breton for Magic etc but now the choice seems a lot harder

I think the aim this time round was to balance the races more so that you'd have a decent chance of completing any mission with any race so that you don't pick a duffer and end up hating the game.

(You can say duffer here right?)
