Re: Update on Patch 1.2!

^ Yeah, sorry that means squat. The patch was submitted to QA 1 day after the first reports of PS3 lag. There's no way Bughesda made a working fix in time for submission. Also, the entire report rests around a single tweet from Pete Hines.

Re: Update on Patch 1.2!

Hello, We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing framerate issues with your PS3. This is an issue that Bethesda investigating reports of. At the moment, could you try clearing you game install files? You can do this by going to the PS3 dashboard > Games > Game Data Utility > and deleting any game install files to do with Skyrim. This often clears up space and helps deal with the lagging issue. Turning off the autosave has also been known to help this issue. For the moment I would suggest disabling the Auto save function within the game and then try the game again to see if this changes anything. If you still have issues I would suggest formatting the PS3 hard drive (however before proceeding with this please contact Playstation for support.) http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/support/ The update that is due in a week or so, might help these problems. I can assure you that Skyrim was tested thoroughly, but due to the nature of the game and it's size, there is often problems that slip through. We apologise for any inconvenience, and we hope you can enjoy the game, as intended. Kind Regards, Francesca, Bethesda Technical Support got this email earllier today after sending them an email about the save file problem, seems to me that the patch is not guaranteed to fix it . And ther solution is is a joke, my ass they tested it you notice the save file growing straight away

I've noticed the saves for other games I own grow as well (though not as markedly), but they do not lag, so I doubt it is as simple as you are making it it out to be. Since we're playing on a console, we can't normally see all the underlying code in these games, so people are understandably correlating the increased save sizes with the slowdown, as that is all they see. Just because there seems to be a correlation between the saves and lag, does not mean they are directly related. They could both be symptoms of something else. I believe them when they say these things can slip through with a game of this size. After all, not everyone is reporting this issue, and they may have assigned testers to test certain sections of the game, so they may not have put many hours into the game individually.  I started to have the slowdown issue the other night, and am anxiously awaiting a patch, but I am not expecting a miracle so soon.

I'm sure you won't be alone there. This is the reason that I've not bought New Vegas. Hearing that it was riddled with bugs that haven't been fixed to this day doesn't exactly instil confidence.

Unfortunately my girlfriend has got me Skyrim for christmas so I'm hoping, and crossing everything that I can, that these problems will be ironed out by then as I've been looking forward to this game for so long. Based on Bethesda's track record with releasing bug fixes, however, I can't say I'm feeling all that confident.

Re: Update on Patch 1.2!

I didn't find vegas that buggy but guess I was just lucky. Fallout 3 GOTY was unplayable for me tho. The add ons just didn't work at all. Couldn't play any of them and in a way ruined what was an awesome experience of the original game.

Re: Update on Patch 1.2!

Well, I'm at roughly 8.5mb but the game has pretty much been fine. It's about the same amount of lag that I got on oblivion which is the odd stutter here and there. I love Skyrim, it's one of the best games I've ever played. I do feel sorry for the millions of people with the problems though. I think that Bethesda are aiming to fix this as a main priority as they aren't exactly getting positive feedback from the customers are they? For all we know they may be fixing it in chunks. If they're not entirely sure they've fixed it they might release a patch and then keep working on it. Remember - "All good things come to those who wait".
