The second pic exudes atmosphere. Very 'I am Legend'.... very 'Life after People'.
I love the idea of this game so far and I am really glad ND are pushing the story and character development aspects but the big question is will this be and open world game or linear like uncharted. I love the uncharted series and being linear is what allows ND to do what they have with the story and characters, but a game like the last of us should really have a big open world and if it has will the story and characters be able to develop as well as in uncharted.
I suppose only time will tell.
Here's a 'making of the trailer' presentation by ND's Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann.
The developers stress that The Last of Us is not one long escort mission. Although you won't control Ellie in the game, her AI is one of the team's primary areas of focus.
Combat includes both gunplay and melee attacks. Weapons will break after repeated use, so you'll have to scavenge around for new items frequently.
Most post-apocalyptic worlds are bleak and gray. Naughty Dog utilizes natural growth to spice up the color palette and add a sense of the abnormal.
I watched I am Legend for the first time the other night and this game (as well as wanting to for a while now and I like Will Smith films) inspired me to do so. I hate New York or America in general in games but when its like this I can live with it. Green and wild animals just make it an awesome atmosphere where ever its set.
