Yeah I get it on the final objective of the first challenge on 3 stars. In that case I found getting downed brings the medics to you. You could try sticking with them and trying to push through whatever resistance they encounter?

Sorry for double post - can't edit...
Yeah, the AI is pretty annoying now. On missions where you have to take the data somewhere, your AI team seems to spend the whole time going for command posts, while the enemy AI religously camps the targets. So most of the time it is you versus the entire enemy team.
Just now I had my whole team in the room with the primary objective - we cleared it out. Then they all ran off to the opposite side of the map without doing the objective (it needed and engineer and I was a soldier). And in another attempt, the AI picked up the data and wouldn't move to the target - but the enemy did. So the game was rendered void at that point.
Wish me luck on my 5th attempt to complete the 2nd security mission as we fail to capture the data yet again.

The AI are ok. They're quite good at supporting you, although they're not very quick to fire on the enemy at times (but that goes for both teams). I'd say they can tend to favour secondary objectives over the primary objective a little too much at times. It can often feel like playing a game of Battlefield when your team is full of noobs and the other team are veterans.
But them defence is always easier. The situation may be a lot better when I am playing missions where I have to defend objectives instead of attack them...
Still loving the game though

Sorry - another double post, and I'm making it worse by quoting myself this time
But I've played for a fair bit now... The AI is great on defence. It's not very aggressive on attack, especially if you leave it to handle the main objective (i.e. you're the wrong class). It won't follow your lead so don't rush to the objective expecting it to follow. Your best bet is to stick with the majority and assist them when they do decide to go in. One tactic that can sort of work to "pull" the AI to the objective is to not bleed out, although medics tend to get killed more often that not trying to get to you. Sometimes they bring some friends though...
It seems the AI is crafted to have a little pitched battle here and there, then make a move on the main objective. If it fails it will repeat this cycle. This can be infuriating if you are in an online mentality of rushing the objective before a defence can be established. If however you just roll with it and use it as an opportunity to fleece XP: good times.
Having said that, trying to do the objectives where you have to carry data somewhere can be bloody infuriating as a heavy body type
