LOL, thats me to hahaha although i can fly pretty well, had some good dogfights, just hitting tanks or anything on the ground is a problem for me 
But when i come up against someone that good in a jet i struggle, spend all my time just trying to escape the heatseekers lol

Heat seekers make a huge difference (and not giving new pilots access to them is incredibly poor design, particularly as the game's audience matures and its get harder and harder in the skies) - remember you've got two heat seekers, and the guy you'll be tailing only has one flare 
. They recharge pretty quick, so send both off in quick succession and you should find the kills not too hard to get .
