Re: Binary Domain

There was a demo on the store this week - I'll get around to checking it out one day :smileywink:

I've heard good things about this, and the trailers look good (as you'd expect lol), but there's a lot of competition at the moment for my gaming budget of both money and time.

Re: Binary Domain

I enjoyed the demo but not sure if its day one yet. Got SSX, Mass Effect 3 and a few other games to give priority to first.

I love the robots and the way you destroy their armour leaving a Terminator style skeleton showing, and shooting its limbs off (legs) and see it come crawling towards you and grabbing hold of your leg :smileyhappy:

The controls felt really well and I like the morality system with your squad, if you shoot them by accident or make the wrong kind of choices then their trust level drops and they stop obeying your orders the worse it gets :smileyvery-happy:

It's certainly right up my street anyway.

Re: Binary Domain

I got around to playing the demo over the weekend, and it seems like a fairly competent 3rd person shooter. The controls are a bit weird, but nothing too out of the park. I did feel the fight against the giant robot went on a bit long though. Along with various other design niggles, this won't be going on my "to get" list any time soon.

Also, releasing it alongside one of the most anticipated 3rd person shooters of the year may also not be the most tactically sound decision on the part of the publisher...

Re: Binary Domain

Gamecentrals review.

In Short: One of the best Japanese-made third person shooters of the generation, and one that doesn't just seek to copy the West but offer interesting new ideas of its own.

Pros: Excellent controls and gunplay, with a good variety of set pieces and enemies - and some top quality boss encounters. Voice commands and interaction is an interesting idea.

Cons: Cover system could be more flexible and not all the gameplay diversions work. Conversation system can seem trivial. Horribly stereotyped and scripted team-mates.

Score: 7/10
