Crysis 2 Multiplayer Impressions

I don't know if I like this game or not.. the matchmaking is horrific but I expect that would be fixed by launch..

For me the game doesn't seem to know what it wants to be? It feels like CoD at first (with it's almost zero recoil and emphasis on sprinting everywhere with the parkour stuff) but then encourages camping by adding in the stealth suit thing.. The lack of recoil puzzles me too, I can snipe better with an assault rifle than the actual sniper :smileyfrustrated: The sniper is only a 1 shot kill to the head right??

I also found myself looking around everywhere looking for people, finding only emptyness.. then suddenly I find 4 people in the same place or something like that :smileyvery-happy: This game confuses me

I have fun on this game, and I think the graphics and sounds are superb.. Don't know what it's like on 360 though. But overall I don't know if I like it or not.. Just seems too easy of a game for me, yet too hard to find people sometimes.

Re: Crysis 2 Multiplayer Impressions

I think people are too judging nowadays. Don't forget it's still only a demo and not the final product. It's still reviewed at around 8/10. Too assume it'll be in a bargain bin in a couple of months is IMO wrong. I think the demo as it was, was fantastic, great graphics and sound and gameplay. I don't think you can judge this game on it's server issue because the game isn't even out yet. It's definitely staying on my to-buy list

Re: Crysis 2 Multiplayer Impressions

My only real complaint is the matchmaking and the lack of pre-lobby squad chat other than that I like the controls and the online is actually fun, I think the graphics are good if not on par with MW2 & Black Ops and like I have said on the cysis 2 forums you don't need to have mind blowing graphics to have a good game and to me this game has got the potential to be a good alternative to all the generic shooters.

Re: Crysis 2 Multiplayer Impressions

If you camp, the game will tell everyone else where you are. You also will be unable to get any killstreak rewards without using the 'Retriever' module.

Something that I think gets overlooked in this demo is how important it is to know when to use each tool. Stealth is NOT a class for attacking (attacking before leaving stealth makes you lose all your energy), but it is great for sneaking up behind people or covering open ground. Armour however, has nothing sneaky about it, but is invaluable in a firefight. The lack of OHK melee also makes for tactical decisions.

..Oh and one time I was killed by someone sliding under my fire and shooting me.. best death ever!

I can't believe that none of you mentioned anything about poor framerate!

I noticed it right away when I moved my character for the first time.

I'm definitely not getting it for the PS3 due to the demo performed extremely poorly.

Meh, the framerate is largely subject to lag. I've played the majority of my games so far without any noticable framerate issues whatsoever, the occasional framerate issues usually coincides with the killstreaks being activated, or a generally laggy game.

Tbh, at around 30fps, it's not noticably any worse than the average online game in BlackOps, which purportedly runs at 60fps.

Lag is a huge factor in any online P2P game.

No, framerate got nothing to do with the lag. These two are completely different things. Framerate happens because of poor codes being implemented in the game or the hardware not being able to cope with the game. Lag happens when you have poor Internet connection, or the server is hanging up.

I've heard that Crysis 2 story will be about 12 hours long which is excellent. If the framerate is good in single player, it will be good enough for me to buy it and I can just avoid the multiplayer. If there are poor framerate everywhere in the game, then it's a no-buy for me.

I'm hoping for a single player demo. Just for the sake of testing out the framerate!

Why would you buy an FPS game with the intention of avoiding the multiplayer? It's one of the few genre's in my opinion where it is the only reason to buy the game.

The single player campaigns are nothing more than padding to legitimise the £40 price. If it wasn't for the multiplayer, these games wouldn't have any longevity or be worth more than £10.
