Pfffffffffffffffffffft!

I was gutted when I saw you playing this last night!

How is it anyway? What are all the decals about? I hope it is like nose art you can choose for your plane.

Please use plain text.

LOL :smileytongue:

Gutted - I just typed out a massive reply and the bloody new proxy server at work lost my authentication so it all got nuked... Here's a shorter version from what I can remember.

Yeah decals are exactly that. You unlock them by getting kills and completing missions. You can also unlock extra camos, but they are plane specific. I think the decals are just country specific with some generic ones thrown in there too.

The game is awesome, now I have my controls customised just right. The customisation options are vaaaast, and you can only map a fraction of all the functions to a controller. However you can also map to a USB keyboard or mouse you may have as well.

I think IGN got it right when they said it's an ode to WWII aircraft in the same way as Gran Turismo is an ode to cars. There is a hell of a lot to do: campaign, dynamic campaign (offline or co-op), historical missions, mission editor (on or offline) and of course online versus.

Plus there are planes to unlock via ranking up (you get XP for pretty much everything on or offline), although you only unlock planes so that you can then buy them (or test fly them). You also earn currency for online versus and dynamic campaign.

Birds of Prey fans might find they need to relearn to fly as the flight (and damage) model has been given a face lift. Climbing is now harder so altitude and energy fighters are more viable. WEP has also been made less abusable - it now ***** your engine if you over use it.

EDIT: seriously? Nakkers gets starred out while you let through bugger...?

You can use all that on PS3 as well, but calling it arcadey is just trying to look cool IMO - this game is far from arcadey.
