Yeah, I've been keeping an eye this one. The consoles have been crying out for a decent flying game for years; Ace Combat 4 was the pinnacle, Ace Combat 5 was good, then the AC series went straight down hill from there. HAWX is truly awful. So I've got my hopes pinned on this, the developers did wonders on the PC or so I hear. The thing they need to balance the action with the realism, too much of the former and they dumb it down, too much of the latter and it becomes boring and doesn't sell well...

heroes over europe seems pretty decent by the footage too, ill be getting hawx myself it is not perfect in some respects but its a good stop gap

they are bringing IL-2 to the consoles?

i can imagine the reviews now - and they wont be good.

the IL-2 games are very very realistic to the point where 'casual gamers' would utterly slate it, having to take off and fly 20 mins to get to the target, then fly all the way back and land? boring! i cant see it going down well with the console crowd in general.

saying that, i would buy it like a shot, i really enjoyed the IL-2 games on the PC and would love to see something with this kind of depth on the PS3, and as already stated, the PS3 is crying out for a good combat flight sim.

have now had a look into it, seems they will be putting a choice of 'arcade' and 'sim' modes into the console versions. if they get it right this should hopefully fill the gap. briliant. looks like i will be buying a new flightstick

Looks like a really cool Air-Combat Simulator. Better then that crap the just came out, what was it called again... oh yeah, HAWX.

keeping a eye on this game 2 looks a quality game, i read on 1Cs forum that its aiming 4 a july release but nothins confirmed as of yet probably know 4 sure when the games official website is up & running

I am defo getting this . I used to have it on PC and it was brilliant , but very ultra realsitic and sim like .   Almost every key on the keyboard did something so I wonder if they will make it compatible with your USB keyboards for the hardcore version and maybe just the pad for arcade mode ?

IL-2 was a beast on PC as it was focused around close quaters dog fights not long range missiles like in the shocking HAWX.

Release date for birds of prey has now been confirmed for the sept 4th. not long now.
