What can only be described as the ultimate Doom SKU is heading to Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year.
Called Doom 3 BFG Edition, the pack will include Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3 and Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil.
As you’d expect, graphics and controls have been fully revamped for the move to console. There’s also new content in the form of a brand new previously “lost” mission for Doom 3 that contains seven new levels and a new boss battle.
"A number of companies have done these 'retro projects' but we're trying to do something with new content," Id’s Tim Willits told Polygon. " We have all the games. We tried to make the offering the best we can."
And yes, before you ask, players WILL be able to use their gun and flashlight at the same time. There are other tweaks too, including an increased amount of available ammo, more light and improved checkpointing.
A release date has not yet been announced.

Sweeet, sounds how it should have been
Still I enjoyed the game, it just didn't quite have that classic DOOM feel to it though.

Knowing Id its a way of saying we wont be seeing Doom 4 for a while yet
They're like Valve and its ready when its ready. Well they want to be hurrying up this gen! I'd hate to wait another several years..

Though they now have Bethesda in charge.
This could be a way to get people's interest up for DOOM 4, to bring in some new fans who might have missed them the first time round because they were too young and such.

Yeah but they still operate under their own rule like Dice do and are free to do as they like.
But you could be right, its been a long time, and BFG is a great way to introduce new people. I'm ok with waiting, and this package will help me a long a little while longer.

At least you'll get to play the the better version. The fact that you had to switch from torch, to gun to see or shoot in most places was rather frustrating so having them both together is how it should have been in the first place. Yeah it added to the tension, but it lost that fast paced action that Doom was known for
Still a great game to play though.
