A shame really. But it's the ease of use with the controls and the hype it brought to the table when Modern Warfare came out I think made CoD so popular.

So is Timesplitters coming out soon? I'm one that's looking forward to it!

Publishers don't like anything unless it's based on something that has proven to make money in the past.

Very few have the balls to take a risk on something.

And now people wonder why most FPS are very close to each other in terms of design ?

Thing is older shooters based on a different style to COD made money surely that tells you a market for that too alongside the COD ish style.

MW1 had to originally break out and go against the norm aswell. they shouldnt be worrying about their games being the same as CoD or not, they should be looking for the next CoD instead lol.

If I were a publisher I wouldn't be looking for anything that's already been done. If you sell off a product that's marketed simply as "like" something, it's already inferior.

The Volkswagen Golf adverts make a mockery of it, however they present a valid point. If it's "like a golf" why not get a golf? It costs the same, or probably less, so what possible reason is there for buying an inferior clone that would otherwise have been good?

This is why I like Killzone. It's one of the few FPS franchises that doesn't try to be COD and isn't cloned every 25 seconds.

I agree, but that's only good for the consumer, not the publisher. It's a very expensive search, and they'd rather turn a smaller, surer profit that take a gamble on a larger profit with the odds stacked against them.
