The situation, I am told, is better.
EA is reserving a certain number of servers for non rent-a-server players but still, since they don't have separate servers dedicated to the rent servers, the danger of not finding a free server becsue EA has rented them all is still present.
Pretty much BF 3 now is the land of Admin where the one admin is king.

So basically BF3 is about the only one worth playing but it uses the PC type model for servers where they are all just player owned/rented and if someone needs my place the admin can just kick me off?

I played RDR around release and liked it well enough but probably wouldn't play it again.

if cod and battlefield isnt your thing then i would suggest rainbow six vegas 2,i had alot of fun on this game and is still one of the best tactical shooters i have played,the co op mode terrorist hunt was alot of fun too.

you can pick the game up for next to nothing now and theres some free dlc for it on the store,the only thing is that the games been out for a while now so im not sure how active the online is for it now..

I have several official DICE servers (Conquest, Rush, Karkand and old maps etc) saved in my favourites which I played all the time after the rent-a-server came about. There is also a code to use for official EA servers as well, but I've never used it, or can never remember what it is.

But now I enjoy a bit of Battlefied roulette lol, and just use the 'quick game' option. There's quite a lot of servers that mimic normal game modes or have 200% tickets which I prefer the longer games anyway.

I've also heard Bad Company 2 is repopulating after people turn away from BF3 disappointed. Some also tout that as the more fun of the two. I can't confirm any of it first hand mind...

I thought it always was still quite popular and I keep meaning to put it on for a few games I did play a few games of 'nam a few weeks back which were quite dead. But that's DLC for you.

Stuff it, nothing better to do on this lovely day with no money, I'll fire BC2 up like I've been meaning to

I loved my Bad Company 2 multiplayer days, Battlefield 3 just hasnt given me the same feeling as that did although it is still an awesome game and i would recommend you get that over MW3 certainly

Maybe because BC2 is aimed at consoles while BF3 is a PC/console hybrid...?

You can certainly tell in the emptiness of some of the bigger maps on BF3. Plus, can you imagine Metro or the Bazaar with 64 players?

BC2 and BF3 games are both superb multiplayer wise however there is just something about BC2 multiplayer that makes it more interesting for me than BF3. If your wanting a good multiplayer experience then one of those two games should do nicely
