How did I miss this at E3...?
Dark forest, monsters, mist, pistol and flashlight. Alan Wake 2 confirmed?
It did look promising though, I really need to go back and finish SH3 and play the ones after that.. The Room and Homecoming, were there any more other than Shattered Memories & those 2 after SH3?
I just compare every SH to the first and second.. I rarely remember any characters names but Harry Mason will be one I probably never forget.. along with Gordon Freeman of course.
I'll be keeping an eye out for this.
Tech other way around since SH was mist creature's zombie's/possed? & used flashlight first although there's didn't kill thing's xD so if anything AW is SH8..... and as you mentioned with SH main character well compare him to AW and they do have many similarities.
Personally ever since seeing the footage back when e3 was aired i got to say looking forward to it really look's like it's going back to SH1 the style and everyhting really look's like the good old day's

Silent Hill: Downpour will be the title of the eighth installment in Konami's horror series - and promises to take the franchise is something of a new direction.
According to the latest edition of US Mag Game Informer - published by huge retailer GameSpot - Downpour will take place in a South-Eastern area of Silent Hill see on maps in previous games but never accessible. Downpour is reportedly a large town, connected up by a subway system that you can ride.
According to a reader over on NeoGAF, water will play a major role in the game, including "bizarre water effects [that] look like an upside down river flowing across a ceiling" - whilst prominent locations seen in previous SH games like schools and hospitals will not make a return.
Players will sometimes be encouraged to strike blows on enemies and flee, rather than always finish them off - and some boss fights will involve QuickTime Events.
A reported upcoming demo will take place in the outskirts of Silent Hill. There will be side quests, and whilst there will be no weapon inventory, guns will weaken and break.
Seems like they are trying to move the series on a little.

Hope they can pull it off, too good a series to just let fade away and die a slow death ( like some, *cough Tomb Raider *cough )
*rises to Lara's defence*
lol....be nice ....tbh the latest Lara re-invention actually looks kinda promising in an Uncharted wannabe kinda way
