Re: The Wednesday Event - Brink - 25/5

Great games last night, I didn't realise I had joined an 'Event' until some time after I joined, oops.

Nice to meet a good bunch (apart from whoever voted to kick me, whatever I did to upset you I didn't mean it) who enjoy playing the game.

It was good to get in, albeit briefly, after a spate of timing out trying to join, then managing to join and getting stuck in a loop of host migration, despite listening to everyone obviously playing. Thanks to Yaster for his efforts to get me in anyway :smileyhappy:

Eventually I got in, but I got put 3v8 on attack on security tower... attacking is not the bot's forte lol. Especially when trying take the data from the safe right past you lot's spawn area. We almost had it a couple of times - but there's only so many turrets you can kill before the endless wave get you :smileyhappy:

Still a few of you got to taste my pimped out Carb-9/scoped AR combo before the session ended (collapsed?) after that game.

Re: The Wednesday Event - Resistance Fall of Man - 8/6

The Wednesday Event Presents:

Retro June

"Think of the summers of the past/adjust the bass and let the alpine blast"

I'm not sure if Will Smith had PlayStation 3 in mind when he wrote those lines, especially not in 1991, you know, 16 years before it came out and that, but it fits as whenever summer arrives you can't help but feel nostalgic.

The Wednesday Event is a series of gaming sessions I hold each week in the War and Shoot Em Ups section where I invite players to join me playing the latest games of that particular genre.  In the past we have explored (and shot the stuffing out of each other in) the depths of Rapture in Bioshock 2 and have seen New York levelled in Crysis.

I wanted to award everyone by allowing them to vote on 4 classic games to play each week in the month of June and you picked some stoaters, here's the line up:

Wednesday 8th June

Resistance: Fall of Man - 8pm

Remember the 1950s when England was invaded by a weird rag tag group of oogie boogies?  You don't because you're most likely too young and this is an alternative history.  Still, the past is the past and that's what we're celebrating this month.  Revisit one of the PS3s first online multiplayer shooters on the 8th at 8.

Wednesday 15th June

Warhawk - 8pm

Duh duh dum dum dum dum dum dum, neeeow.  Oh they changed the theme tune didn't they?  I know that Warhawk was the game that sold the PS3 to some people and we most certainly have a lot of dedicated fans who played the game religiously back in the day.  Who will be first to team kill by accident when they see a red named player and not notice that they themselves are on the red team?

Return to the Eucadian/Chernovan war on the 15th of June with me.

Wednesday 22nd

Metal Gear Online - 8pm

"When I play as Snake, he dies a lot".  I'm sure that Snake has died at the hands of many of us and that we have been subjected to Otacon and Campbells cries on numerous occasions.  Just like Warhawk, another massive game on the Official PlayStation community with a large following.  Remind yourself of your Konami ID and join me on the 22nd of June.

Wednesday 29th June

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - 8pm

More like Retro Warfare!  As it's an old game, like the rest of these.  At stone cold classic though and one worth going back to.  Many PS3 gamers first Call of Duty game, join me in my private game and marvel at how a game in a modern setting can be so nostalgic.  A great way to round of the month.

This weeks event:

The Wednesday Event!

Wed 13th July 8pm

Homefront

For this week's Wednesday Event we are playing Homefront!

Please make sure that your network settings are optimal in order to reduce connection errors.

I'm gonna need to get a list of 16 of you.  Ideally I want to have you all on my friends list for this one.  I think you will be able to invite people on your own friends list.  But I know a lot of you want to get the "Full Boat" trophy here so this is a good opportunity to obtain that.

The evening will kick off with us all clambering into the one party and me launching the game, simple as that!

Add your name to this list if you want to take part.
