Sixaxis or Thumb sticks?

I have only dabbled a bit on WipEout but i think the Sixaxis controls are spot on accurate how do you play Sixaxis or sticks?

sticks.  you will not be competitive with six-axis.

Thumb sticks for myself but my 3 year old son has to the use the Six-Axis as his hand are to small to reach all the buttons lol
