I'm new to wipeout, been playing it for a few hours and I am doing ok.

I thought I would start a thread for advice and tips. So please post any you might have.

I'll start it off with a couple of question:

Can you boost at the start like some racing games? if so how?

Can you get any extra speed from the boost pads?

Soon as you see GO on the countdown , hit the gas and that should give you a nice little boost start

dont press the 'X button at all until 'GO'.
doing so, even once, during the count will null the boost.
(obviously you can press X when it tells you to on the bottom of the screen ;P )

dont know if others will know this (probably will) but to get your energy back up during the race (because recharge pads from the old wipeout games are gone now) you press 'O' to absorb the weapon you are currently carrying.

(i think 'O' use to just trash/drop the weapon, now its your only means of staying alive when smashing into barriers left and right)

got the game and the only time i see instructions is when game is about to begin and it goes away quite quick lol

There's a full game manual in the interface explaining everything - though off the top of my head I can't recall under which menu section.
