I think they may have updated the patch, I tried the other workarounds (sign out/sign in, resave etc) suggested here with limited success. (I was gettinig farther in the game and then crashing when I just got a medal at the point of save which was somewhat frustrating!)

I just deleted wipeout hd game (not your saves!), redownloaded, reinstalled, redownloaded latest patch and good to go.

I beleive your right existenz1, I just downloaded the update, and I not having any problem with the game. No freezing,lock-up, crash, nothing.

Thanks for the info, they could at least have made an announcement regarding the patch, or put it up as 1.31

Then it could be likely that the patch/download was initially corrupt data in some way, like The Pitt (FO3 DLC) was for Xbox 360 owners when it was released.

I shall download for my WipeOut now, I didn't want to risk bricking my machine!!!

i had to wipeout my entire hardrive  r and restored my files 2 its really annoying and it still doesnt work and sony wants 150$ to referbish my system  so i would like to no what u guys think should i should just get a new 1

Well i tried to delete the game, this didn't work now i am formatting my PS3 (160 GB Slim) I hope this works out, it's funny that a developper that makes playstation only games still keeps silent and didn't fix the game after 5 years.

It was for this very game that i bought a PS3, yet i can't play the game. All my saves are lost (afte a crash) online saving was not an option back then... i can start all over.

I have downloaded the latest patch and have not had any freezing problems as of yet.
