P.S.
Many thanks to IGN for this.
Even worse.
They went from old to a newer guy with a hint of Nathan Drake, then to a newer guy with a hint of Wayne Rooney, now they've gone to a compromise; a compromise without even considering if the character fits the game.
I hope they sort this out cause it will ruin it for me.
I actually think the original redesign was more fitting to this game's environments and general style.
I think the body design they have there is almost perfect, but the head isn't quite iconic or fitting enough yet.

oooh crikey - it just gets worse and worse! Now he looks like a guy wearing a Wayne Rooney mask. Why is his head so HUGE? :s
They really need to fire their character designer.. we don't want a cartoonish MAX XTREME dood, we don't want Shrek.. just give us the old Cole with a better temperment so that we can believe he might actually have friends. ![]()

I'm glad they changed Cole back to resemble something more like his original self. The new Cole was sort of alright, but he just wasn't Cole. He was too much of a wise-cracking, fashionable model, not an everyday Joe, like Mr McGrath was...Minus the electric powers.
Pity they haven't changed the voice actor. Cole needs more gravel down his throat.

I think the new design was cool and agree that the new hybrid design of Cole is somewhat a brutal compromise. Well the head anyway. The whole premise of the game was to expand on the whole world of the super hero genre through this new video game character. Having the character evolve through a new and more sophisticated design made sense and was a step in the right direction. When replaying infamous 1 recently I noticed that the skin colouring and hair design in some scenes appeared too pasty and therefore looked a little cheap especially against dark backgrounds. The newer design including the hair not only makes Cole look better against the backdrops of his environments but it sets him apart from other similar characters likeStar Killer from TFU2. I did enjoy the first game hence why I'm playing it again, but, I'm also willing to trust game designers to take creative risks with character design and development. I'm hoping that Sucker Punch can keep everybody happy by at least allowing the users that did like the cool looking E3 design to play him as an unlockable or pre order bonus. That way everybody can be happy and these threads can be resolved.

I had a poke at inFamous last night, and was reminded of how bloomin awful the character models were in cutscenes. They talk like rusty pedal bins, with model clipping, low res texture stretching, and lighting issues. I hope they've fixed that, coz it would've looked bad on a PS2, let alone a PS3.
When not talking, the models are ace, though. Gaunt Cole is definitely way better looking than the crud they seem to be churning out for inFamous 2.
But, to try and justify it all, I've decided that Cole must have an eating disorder brought on by all the trauma of betrayal and the loss of those dear to him. He can't fit into his fitted motorcycle jacket anymore, so he's had to buy a cheap shapeless tshirt from the Empire City equivalent of Primark.
Belly's gonna get ya!

Yeah the new Cole looked too much like Nathan Drake to me. I'm glad they're keeping the original render. He kinda looks like Jason Statham, doesn't he? Kinda reminds you of Crank: High Voltage lol
