I’ve seen a few ideas for a third game on this series and some are good, while others… not so good. Ever since beating the second game and gotten both endings, I felt it was a little rushed and wished that they had made it a trilogy rather than ending it with a second game. The basis for my InFamous 3 requires some changes made to the story of InFamous 2, which means that while the idea might come across as good (hopefully), it will never see the light of day. But hey, I’m allowed to dream and toy with the idea, am I not?
My InFamous 2 would start a little different. The Beast would not arrive at the start of the game and “nuke” Empire City. Lucy Kuo would still come to Cole and suggest that he’d head to New Marais, so that Dr. Sebastian Wolfe can assist him in getting stronger. Lucy still takes the warning of The Beast serious, as does Dr. Wolfe and they both guess that Cole is their best bet in dealing with the issue.
After Dr. Wolfe meets with Cole (there might be some search and rescue here, as in the original game, though it doesn’t end with Dr. Wolfe’s death – but Kuo is still captured), they start working on boosting Cole’s powers, much like in the original game. Parallel to this, Dr. Wolfe asks Zeke to help him with a plan B, just in case that Cole should fail. This plan B would be the Ray Field Inhibitor, though we’re not told of this – or its true purpose.
Kuo gets captured and “changed” as in the original game; Nix is also around as is Bertrand and his creations, monsters and ice men alike. Not many changes here, though if you pursue the Good ending, you’ll get hints of romance with Kuo and the same for Evil with Nix. The hints grow more obvious as you progress, though no “I love you Cole/Nix/Kuo”, not even at the end.
Near the end, there will be the arrival of The Beast, which can just as well be “born” in Empire City and stomp down the coast, but much faster than in the original game, as it will make its arrival much later in the game story. The plague is also present as in the original game. Cole fights and loses, regardless of what karma you have. He’s down, but not dead.
Dr. Wolfe dies, either of the plague or caught in the crossfire with The Beast, before he can put in the last pieces of his plan B. Thankfully Zeke has enough info to take his place, but he needs time. Thus ends InFamous 2, quite the opposite of InFamous 1, where both good and evil Cole fought Kessler (the main bad-guy) and won.
And so it begins for InFamous 3 – Cole, Zeke, Kuo and Nix all run over to the west coast US, to a city inspired by real life San Francisco. They need to get some distance between themselves and The Beast, pinning their hopes on Dr. Wolfe's plan B and Cole will do what he can to get Zeke the peace and quiet to finish the device. The city also has “super” conduits like Cole, Sasha, Kessler, Nix and Kuo.
These conduits are not the result of a Ray Sphere blast, rather they have naturally evolved/activated their abilities. Much in the same manner as the original Cole (later Kessler) did - or at least that is my theory. It is possible that Kessler is a product of the First Sons original Ray Sphere blast, as the one in InFamous 1 was organized by Kessler. Lore on this matter is a bit sketchy, but either way Cole needs conduits to fight, period.
The good Cole comes to the concusion that he wasn't strong enough to take on The Beast, but even if he was, the fight would have become a Zero–sum game (you loose about the same amount as you gain). Kuo suggests that Cole approach the other conduits in order to form a team of conduits, whom together will fight The Beast once more.
The evil Cole also comes to the concusion that he wasn't strong enough to take on The Beast, but is unsure what more he can do to become stronger (and regain what power(s) he lost after his first fight with The Beast, much like in the beginning of InFamous 2). Nix points out that there are other conduits and that Cole can beat the crap out of them, taking their power and adding it to his own.
So each version of Cole goes to find these conduits (which will be the bosses of the game), fight them and have a karma moment at the end of it; kill and get more power (evil) or show mercy and team up (good). Parallel to this, we'll see the romance subplot that started in InFamous 2 being fleshed out and because of this, we might get more shades of grey as far as karma goes (the greater good, or the love of your life?).
For shades of grey are important, since I'd like to see a third "hidden" ending, which can be unlocked by remaining more or less karma neutral. I'm not suggesting 100% neutral, you could lean towards good/evil. As an example, lets say that you cannot have any karma rank (Guardian, Champion, and Hero for good, Thug, Outlaw, and Infamous for evil), good or evil. So, you can be evil, but not as evil that you gain Thug rank or higher.
The part with The Beast being John White, the plague and active conduits are unaffected by it remains. This part of the plot is revealed in InFamous 3, since in InFamous 2, The Beast is just stomping around and killing people.
So we'll have three endings:
Good - Cole prepares to fire up the Ray Field Inhibitor while his allies hold back The Beast to the best of their ability. They have learned what the Ray Field Inhibitor does and decide in the end, humanity is better off without conduits (evident of the "second weapons race" that Bertrand attempted to start in InFamous 2). We'll get an ending similar to the good ending in InFamous 2.
Evil - Cole is very powerful and has more than just electrical powers at his disposal, as he has killed and absorbed other conduit powers. He teams up with The Beast and after destroying the Ray Field Inhibitor, becomes the second Beast as John cannot go on killing. We'll get an ending similar to evil ending in InFamous 2, except that Cole has already "conquered" USA and sets his eyes on the next continent (Europe or Asia).
Neutral - Cole and his band of allies will not fight The Beast head on and are not willing to lay down their lives (and everyone else with an active conduit gene). Instead they find another way to deal with The Beast. Possibly by modifying the Ray Field Inhibitor, so it becomes a "prison" for The Beast - then shipping it into space/the sun.
The game fast forwards some years, where the USA is no more as the majority of the people there died of the plague and The Beast's rampage. Cole along with Kuo are starting to lay down the foundation of a new USA, a country for the surviving conduits. They hope that there will be a day when humans and conduits can live together side by side, in peace.
One immediate "problem" I see with this, is that I delay a lot of the good plot points from InFamous 2 until InFamous 3. I loved both the Kessler, the Ray Field Inhibitor and The Beast twist, but I cannot think of something similar that will fit in with "my new" InFamous 2. I suppose we could make it more character driven, letting Cole become a father/big brother figure for Kuo/Nix and helping both of them come to terms with what and who they are. Fleshed out characters with some depth is a good thing, no?

Nice story with Infamous 3 and I agree that they did a rush job with infamous 2! I think that if they make infamous 3 then they really need to look back at all the abilities that should be a cole's disposal! Lets say for example in a scene when cole first met kessler you seen how kessler teleported from one rooftop to where cole is! That should have one of his abilities that he really doesn't need like the sniper blast in part 2! The earth quake that kessler generated in that fight should also replace those minions that he makes in 2! Basically he should be able to fly since the second one but they left that out! in addition to the grinding he should be able to turn himself into a bolt of electricity and move throughout the powerlines and whenever he he exits and strike the ground anyone who's near whether the karma's is good or bad will get electricuted and then thrown back! His ionic storm should be just like in the first one where it can move whereever the controller's moved! And they need to eliminate those ionic charges! Overall its a decent part 2 but with these ablilties should be added if they think about doing a part 3!

no offence, but the 'moving through the power line' thing sounds kinda silly to me.
but I agree with the minion thing (they're called 'spikers' BTW), they are actually kind of useless.
um... you should ignore my signature if you don't have LBP2.

This is a great idea but I dont know. Sucker Punch is a different kind of company. You dont know what they'll dish out next. I mean really. Who would have thought Cole would be bitten by a vampire, and that story would be made into FOB!

you know that this means Cole was never meant to have powers. He was aware that his future self travel back in time and warned him. Cole now knows, and there is no telling if he will travel back to fulfill his destiny. Also, both ending argue and there can't be a third game because Zeke is dead in one ending and alive in the other. The only way there can be a third is if Cole fights his alternate self because if he never travels back in time in the first place, that makes him a paradox...wow.

i have an idea for infamous 3 : evil cole comes in new marais in good coles dimension then he triggers a blast to activate the sick conduits but he doesn't know that good Cole used the RFI to kill all coduits when the blast got cole he came back to life and even kuo then good cole tries to stop evil cole but he lost the battle because he was week and he lost most of his powers because of the RFI and the story begins

They probably will make another one but it automatically says that you done the good ending. Because the final clip scene of the good ending is zeke walking away from cole and then in the distance a lightning bolt appears. That means something to me, maybe an alternate cole trying to recreate the RFI so it brings conduits back to life, therefore bringing real cole back.

just have the third game start off as good or evil cole. simple. good = rfi was only temporary to all conduits but john. bad = your mission is to find all the conduits. your main enemy is based on your starting path.
