Terms and Conditions – Specific Rules for “The best of Beyond: Two Souls” Competition
I played the demo twice, fully expecting to experience the same thing both times but was pleasantly surprised to have it play out different ways each time. For example, the first time through, I used Aiden to open the train windows so Jodie could escape the cops but the second time, I messed up and got cornered in a toilet and had to climb out of the ceiling hatch. Such a small thing but it made the experience vary - something which a lot of games lack making replaying less enjoyable.
As an avid gamer, I was eager to download the demo for Beyond : Two Souls as i knew that coming from the makers of the brilliant Heavy Rain I'd be in for a great gaming experience.
The main thing about the demo that struck me were the amazing graphics, possibly the best ever to come from the Playstation3, I was amazed how realistic Jodie looked in both playable scenes.
Secondly, I had no idea what the story was about, so i was shocked when i had to control a "soul" coming from Jodie herself, this is a new and innovative idea which i can't wait to play more.
With the most well known cast in gaming history, the high calibre of Quantic Dream and the last game from them this gen, I can't wait for the game to be released !!
I love these type of game`s i love them.
I`l be honest and say this i love to play game`s like this for the trophy`s to becouse once the story is finished we can still injoy the game even more by geting all the trophy`s that are to get yes i`s im a trophy collecter and i always will be not to show off it`s becouse i love and injoy doing it so trophy`s are to apart of this game and i`d be sure to collect what i can get in this awesome game coming out!
As a media student, I tend to notice the little things. Lighting, colour, cinematography. But none of that mattered for that thirty minutes of gameplay. I was so immersed in the story that the analysis my mind usually performs subconsciously didn't even happen at this point. And Cage has been so successful with Heavy Rain, I didn't even need to see any of Beyond: Two Souls for me to put an order down on Amazon.
After playing the demo, one thing stood out to me the most. How Cage conveyed human emotion with themes that don't physically exist. Supernatural themes. Life after death.
As a child, Jodie learns to control her second entity, Aiden, but because of this, she's obviously different from everyone else. She's learnt, at the age of 8, when she is being patronised. In all of the demo, she's never once smiled. She's never once been happy. Even in the intro scene, the innocent image of a child playing is twisted into a scene of sad emotions with the dark, melancholy piano against the image of Jodie playing. She's not happy. She's not having fun. Doctors run tests and act nice just to examine her like she's an alien. And she's treated different, she knows that. She knows she'll never be allowed to be normal because no one will let her, not even Aiden. She sees through the act. She knows when she's being patronised and the difference between someone being nice and someone acting nice. Children usually believe everything they're told, but Jodie understand what a lie is. She has grown up faster than the average child, she had to, what choice did she have?
But then you have a scene where Jodie is now a teen, training to fight. Self defence. The typical idea of an American teenage girl texting on her BlackBerry while 'hanging out' at the 'mall' is replaced by a teenage girl who's focused. Who isn't average. She's probably fighting for defence. In the next scene she's on the run from the police. She's had to use Aiden to her advantage to kill. To possess. To destroy. Does this sound like your average teen? But it was all for defense.
To sum up my essay of a competition answer, the most impressive thing about Beyond: Two Souls was the way human emotion has been used and conveyed alongside interactive storytelling to create a dark thriller, concerning themes where most film-makers wouldn't DARE to go near. Judging from the demo, Cage has set the bar for interactive storytelling in video games, and I wouldn't believe that we will see anything to top this for a long time. Who says video games are for children?!
Thank you, QuanticDream for Faranheit. Thank you for Heavy Rain. THANK YOU FOR BEYOND: TWO SOULS!
totaly epic game graphics of a movie suspence and what happens next factor
playing the demo when my dad walked in and got slightly confused as to why i had my controller in my hand, this is how good the game looks he thought it was a real CG movie
i really can't wait to play the game, i really enjoyed fahrenheit and heavy rain also while on the subject i finally platinumed heavy rain this weekend also in preparation for beyond
Most impressive thing about this game, is me not playing it yet!!! Impossible!!! hehe
Definately the two awesome actors you have playing the leads in what looks to be an unforgettable story.
most impressive thing was how the game draws you in to it really could not put the demo down after playing it played it about 5 times. like the fact you can do things alternative ways without dieing if you did a part wrong in the demo. So many great games at the mo but this manages to stand out. Kinda of game you think your not gonna get hooked on then bam just like that you are.
Seems strange that to win a game you have to own the game to play it to say what you like about it so you can win it.
Nice one Sony, another well thought out idea.
I think the most impressive thing about the game is easily the graphics. I love how it seamlessly moves from a cut-scene to gameplay and makes the whole game feel like one big movie.
The interactivity between other in-game characters is easy and intuitive and it works so well. It really is almost like an interactive movie.
It's always nice to see cut-scenes being rendered real time and it makes the whole game seem much more fluid.
What impressed me most about the demo (and this will make me play the game multiple times through) is that there is no "end game" as such. Once I make a decision the game just keeps going e.g. I didn't wake up in the train car and there the conductor found me out the first time I played. The second time I played I sneaked away and a whole new event was triggered and my play changed drasticly. I cannot wait to see how this will affect my play of the game and how my playthrough will differ from my friend's. This game is shaping up to be an emotional as well as an action pact game. It might just top The Last of Us in my books... maybe. :-)
most impresive thing was when aiden shows how powerful he really is. The action graphics are ''beyond'' what anyone could expect on this gen. I just hope next gen to be as amazing as this game is.
An incredible game, realistic afraid. A game that will surely come to move indeed on. A total immersion in its plot and its events.
BEYOND: Two Souls goes above and beyond the modern expectations of modern film and video games. Where most video games focus on getting as photorealistic as possible, this game achieves amazing graphics as well as an outstanding storyline.
What I felt was immersive was that the technology that went into creating this game made you think that soon we might be able to create entire films with the 3D capabilites of a video game. The cinematography, lighting and all other factors that go into making a film were definately included in Beyond.
