Like day follows night there's a new COD, and Call of Duty WW2 has arrived as this year's entry. And it's gone back to World War 2 in case that name didn't give it away. Here's everything we know about the campaign, beta, a new zombie mode and a big multiplayer overhaul.
'Call of Duty in November release window shock,' said no one ever. It could potentially slip but Activision usually lock this stuff down firmly. Disasters not withstanding, expect to be playing on that date.
So far the Call of Duty WW2 beta is only a promised but undated private one, available if you pre-order the game.
While there's no date yet it's promised to run for at least three days on PS4. If you buy the game on the PlayStation Store then you're automatically included. Retail copies should have a code to use on your receipt.

Forget robo-legs and jet packs, this is 'boots on the ground,' old school COD. From the classic ping of the M1-Garand, to Grease Guns and trenches. So far we've seen the Normandy beach landings and an assault through Hürtgen Forest. The 1943-44 window seems to focus on the European Assault with mention of Paris and Aachen in Germany. It sounds a lot like this Call of Duty will be about ending the war. I guess that means no sequel then.
The campaign mainly follows the 1st Airborne Infantry, in particular two soldiers called Red Daniels and Zussman, from the D-day landings, through France and all the way into Germany. One other playable character, a French Resistance woman called Rousseau, has also been named. However, the emphasis seems to about sticking with Daniels and Zussman, and using other characters for occasional pacing. There will also be some prominant non-playable characters too with concept art showing an ***** officer, a child, and mention from Sledgehammer of “a German family and two sisters, Crowley, a British officer, and Cormack, an African-American officer from another regiment.”
Big changes are obviously on the way for Call of Duty WW2 as it leaves behind space war for muddy trenches. Don't expect any boost jumps or tech this time, instead the phrase Sledgehammer keep repeating is 'boots on the ground'.
Instead of the gadgets there's talk of "strategic, grounded fast action" and "really unique map designs". There are some classic gun names being thrown around as well too, like the Garand, SMG-44, Thompson and 'Grease Gun,' as well as mention of shotguns and LMGs.
There's also a new mode called War, which is promising an asymmetric, narrative-based multiplayer mode built around different scenarios. Sledgehammer is describing those as “a series of objective-driven conflicts” and overall it sounds a lot like Battlefield 1’s Operations and Frontlines modes.
Call of Duty's new zombie mode is being very coyly teased and sounds like it might be something quite new. Word from Sledgehammer is that it will be a “smallish squad co-op experience” that's both an “adrenaline filled, dark new mode” and a "horrifying experience." It sounds like it might be more of a story-based thing this time as well, with a description that says it's the "story of the Third Reich's desperate attempt to create an army in the final stages of the war."
It's defintely not the tower from Destiny, okay? Got that? It's just a place you can hang out with a bunch of people when you're not fighting to show off your gear and achievements...
It's described as an “off the frontlines space” by Sledgehammer, functioning as “both a social and activity driven space that really showcases and celebrates your achievements and your personality.” There even seems to be a hint that things like prestiging will now be rewarded with some sort of medal giving ceremony in front of other players. text source
Hopefully it is a proper ww2 game and not ww2 with super jumpy jump everywhere.
Just seen a pic of a nice CoD WW11 SnapBack on Twitter @AXtj XD
Expecting Spitfire piloting, and an NPC called Ryan somewhere in France.
There's one thing for sure,TJ. It'll be better than that other shooter Battlefront 2. Bloody lightsabers and laser guns. Smh@AXtj
I'm not a star wars fan. So hell yeah it will be better.@KushMonkey
