PD has said there will be a end of July update and gave us a pic
I wonder what the update will contain this time around?
Thanks for the heads up.
Kaz's tweet comes with a little teaser video.
I am not sure, but that looks like Golden Gate Bridge, California, USA in that video. From there it's only a 66 km drive to the Sonoma (formerly Infineon) Raceway ... New track coming to GT Sport ?@Tassie_tiger
Wonder if it's wishful thinking and expect some changes to the dreadful GT Sport Mode and Penalty System. I might get back into Sport Mode, I've not touched it for a very long time.. Over 2 months now.
We have a change in the penalty judgement tommorow.
The penalty judgement algorithim for car collsion during the online races of Gran turismo Sport will be updated to new rules following the scheduled maintenance planned for Wednesday 11 July
The details of the update are as follows
Sport mode including Daily races and lobby
Players with Driver rating (DR) or higher will no longer be judged under sticter colliison criteria but will be judgged under the same criteria as for players with DR ratings lower than A
Light contacts between cars will no longer result in penalties
the amount of seconds issued for a time penalty will be lowered
This is NOT the main update of July
I really don't think that removing the light contact penalty is a good idea.
As what defines light contact?
I can only see this as someone being more aggressive on corners now in the hope they don't get any penalty. As it will just be "light contact".
and its offical, we getting a track (that another tease video just be posted)
What time does this mini update drop for the penalty’s - it’s 7pm in the UK and no sign of it, checked the update options and nothing
The penalty system is operational in the online Sport/Lobby modes only. I assume that changes to the judging algorithms only require updating the software that runs on the servers, and no update is needed on the users side.
I base this opinion partly on some (admittedly antiquated) knowledge of software development, and partly on the fact that the changes are announced on the official PD GTS site under the header "Information", not under the header "Updates".
I think that a penalty will be deemed to have occured on each persons console while racing, but it is the servers job to decide if in fact it was a penalty and what time addition should be applied.
Therefore it was a server update, not console.@Malipiero1
no update yet.
just do the fia race and in the last corner someone pass me and go of track and i pass him and get 10 sec penalty.
Should probably add this tweet from a day or two ago.
A brief glimpse of the track itself.
Perhaps it’s me but I can’t see any evidence of changes to the penalty system other than 10 seconds instead of 4 or 5 being handed out for collisions. I’m sorry I’ve played 5 games in a row on the daily races can’t see anything improved
Fairly sure we would have received notification if the planned maintenance didn't go ahead.
Also fairly sure the server downtime was for a server update as opposed to a downloadable console game version update.
If I bothered to take notice of the build number prior to the maintenance I would be able to confirm, but I didn't.
In my opinion it's safe to say the penalty system update has been applied.@phewitt21
More goodies heading our way at the end of July.
Customised Racing Gear.
If this is what I think it is. It's one of the small things on my wishlist
Looks like we may be getting at least 2 new cars this month too.@Tassie_tiger
Its guess the cars time again as Kaz tweeted the pic plus gave us a date. the date for the update is 30 July (therefore I expecting a maintenance post beforehand as this is outside its normal Wednesday slot) as its a Monday. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DihjU07UwAAU9zY.jpg:large
It looks as if there is another hodgepodge of cars, everything from maybe a Copen, to a 240Z/280Z, and some race cars or Vision cars.
